In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF) is one of the most common procedures performed at Cayman Fertility Center. IVF when translated means fertilization “in glass” and refers to the process where a woman’s eggs are fertilized with male sperm outside of her body in a laboratory to produce embryos. IVF is an option for many couples who struggle to conceive naturally. At Cayman Fertility Center our patients come to us from all over the world to avail of our high IVF success rates which considerably higher than the national average rates for both the UK & US.
Intra-Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) is a modification of the in vitro fertilisation (“Test-tube baby”) technique where the egg is fertilised outside the body by injecting the sperm directly into it.
ICSI is typically suitable for several groups of patients, such as:
- Men with abnormal semen parameters.
- Couples with previous poor fertilization using IVF.
- Advanced Maternal Age
Some women are unable to provide eggs for IVF. The possible reasons being:
1. The ovaries have never developed properly e.g. Turner’s Syndrome.
2. Early menopause/premature ovarian failure.
3. Chemotherapy or previous surgical removal of the ovaries.
4. Where the woman is a carrier of a genetic disease, such as muscular dystrophy or hemophilia.
5. Poor quality of eggs due to age.
Women who fall into one of these categories can now have an opportunity to become pregnant by IVF using eggs obtained from another women.
A woman may wish to freeze her eggs for a number of reasons, both medical and social. Cayman Fertility Center specializes in Egg Freezing. We use the new vitrification system to freeze eggs and have an egg thaw survival rate of 92% with 69% clinical pregnancy rates.
The development of egg vitrification offers tremendous hope and now presents the option for women to opt to have eggs stored at a younger age, so preserving their fertility options.
Intra-Uterine Insemination is the introduction of prepared sperm into your uterus in order to improve the chances on pregnancy.
Ovulation Induction (OI) is the controlled administration of drugs to stimulate the ovaries to produce mature eggs.
Cayman Fertility Center has always been at the cutting edge and introduced embryo vitrification in 2006.
